Kalorik model 313

A good looking cylindrical clock, this Kalorik model 313. Kalorik was, and still is, a Belgian household appliances firm founded in 1930. But very likely this clock is a rebranded Artin, since at the bottom it says "made in Hongkong", the motor is made by Artin and I have seen the same clock with different brand names like Modern, Realtime and Pentagon, but mostly Artin.




The sticker on the side is the kind of instructional sticker that you are supposed to remove after purchase, but no-one did. And since it probably will be still visible due to discolouration if I take it off now, so I leave it on. It is now part of the history of the clock.

The motor had an issue that is common to these Artin motors: a cracked pinion gear. As you can see the rotor just dropped out. I replaced the pinion gear as described in this post and now it is running fine again.

I love this model & color. Just picked up the Artin model in yellow online. Will need repair though...

The case is a bit difficult to open as the bottom tabs are very sturdy. Likely you will need to replace the pinion gear. I think you have already experience with that. And while you are in there, depending on the condition of the bushings, you may want to replace these as well. I made this post about that: https://www.flipclockfans.com/forum/...an-artin-motor

When I saw the description "clock not running" my thoughts were directly. "Nothing my printer can't handle." Fingers crossed, hopefully the tiles will be ok.

It will be tricky to print something that small with so much detail but I am curious to see how it works out for you.

No idea yet if it will be the pinion gear but the Kalorik in the photo is running for over a year now with a printed pinion gear in PLA+. And it was printed on an Ender 3. Meanwhile I also have a K1 which is way more precise and for which I still need to calibrate Nylon/PA filament on it.

The stl for the pinion for Artin 01 was uploaded to Thingiverse and allready downloaded several times meanwhile.

Took me about 5-10 min to open. These are the kind of tabs you have to push in with a screwdriver e.g.

And yup flywheel sits lose. I will try to 3D print the pinion in PA/nylon this time though. As nylon has the property to be very resistant and self lubrucating and all.

Will check the bearings Johan. Though earlier this weekend I serviced the Copal motor and inspected and cleaned them well. That clock is running again, smoothly and silently.
