Broken card on 1971 Seth Thomas Flip Clock (Model 2472). Searching for replacement card or possible fix.

    Hi there,

I've recently thrifted a 1971 Seth Thomas Flip Clock (Model 2472) similar to the one discussed here: https://www.flipclockfans.com/forum/...the-model-2471. I apologize in advance for the improper terminology, this is my first flip clock and I have no idea what I'm doing.

My issue is that one of the time cards, the 05/06, is broken and does not fit onto the wheel. To be precise, the small prong on the corner of the card which fits into the slot on the wheel has broken off. I'm looking to get a replacement card or somehow reattach it. Google results have been somewhat ineffective so I've landed here in search of help.

I've attached some photos below from when I disassembled and cleaned it. It's a great clock and seems to work fine, other than missing the number. It was missing screws so I'll be replacing that as well.

    Thanks for your time.

Hello, and welcome to this forum!

It will be hard to find a replacement card for this clock as they are not very common.

Luckily there are some ways to repair a card:
    1) Grow back the tip using baking soda and super glue: https://www.flipclockfans.com/forum/...ing-flip-tiles It may take some practise but it works! I repaired several cards this way.
    2) Replace a small strip at the top of the card: https://www.flipclockfans.com/forum/...ing-flip-tiles

I recommend to try the first method first and if you really can get that to work to try the second method.

Thank you for the thorough advice! This is excellent. I'll give Home a shot. Thank you so much.
