I stumbled upon this gargantuan Sony Betamax player at an electronics store. Already intrigued by the Betamax, I was drawn in by the neat timer piece on the top. As it turns out, the Sony DT-30 timer was an accessory for the X2 and powered the Betamax at a set time to record programs. Users of a Betamax X2 equipped with the DT-30 also had the luxury of watching the numbers roll back with each passing hour, minute, and second! The faux wood paneling and brushed metal accents of the unit emphasize the novelty and luxury that was having a VCR in the late 1970s. While a DVR can do what the Betamax can in a smaller package, it sure can't do it as attractively...
