Growing up my parents bought me a Panasonic RC 7589 Planda Clock Radio. I recently was able to purchase one in good working order, but very dusty.
What is a safe way to remove the dust from the ribbed plastic body near the speaker and how does one open it to clean the dust from the inside?

The best way is complete disassembly and washing with soap and water. Not sure how to open it. I've not had one of those in my hand.
