    General Electric GE 8141-4

Ran across this today, neat looking clock without any bids on it. It's way down in the search results, not sure why though. It can be found HERE.

Nice find Performa , you should go for it cuz I know I'm not. Shipping is higher for me at $14.20 since I'm in the West Coast. :/
Looks like a "roll clock" or "Rollie" as I've read from old forum topics, I wonder if they're harder to restore as they don't "flip" and look more complicated.

Off topic, but I just love reading the date codes on GE products.

The first number would be the generation of that model, the second number would be the last digit of the year it was made, and (I think) the last two digits indicate the week of the year it is made.

I'll be keeping an eye on it, a lot can change in 2 days, but I'm definitely interested if it doesn't jump too much. I have something similar already (I'll toss up a picture of it from a while back), and at a glance it looks like the same mechanism inside. I'm not sure about difficulty- I've worked on more "rollie" clocks as that seems to be what turns up in the thrift stores these days, but I haven't noticed anything that makes them any "more" difficult than the average flip clock. None of the rollie's I've got have radios though, so that helps keep the complexity down somewhat too.

Sweet find! Dunno what's up with the XOXO on the face but okay! Score on those rollie clocks, won't take too much to get it runnin' like new! Do those carry the same Copal motors that the flip clocks have? (Should have rephrased my question as how different rollies are to flip clocks, not how difficult. My bad!)

But as far as identifying a roll clock/ radio combo, the General Electric 7-4305a comes to my mind.

Saw one of those at a Goodwill awhile ago and another on FB Market place recently for five dollars. Since the numbers don't "flip" and they don't "cycle" over, I guess this would count as a roll clock/radio combo.
For some strange reason, I have yet to find a simple rollie clock. Just a bunch of those white Westclox clocks that you see everywhere. Click image for larger version

Alas, the auction ended for about $5.24. Did you go for it? It's a very cute clock neverthless, I do love the glow in the dark spinning dial!

Don't stare at it for too long or you may hypnotized yourself! (Speaking from personal experience as I did buy yet another flip clock with a spinning dial)
(Yikes, spoilers. More on that soon! ^^)

Alas, I was out of the house at the time and by the time I got back it was sold.

Plus side, I've got the high bid on another one just like it now, so we'll see what I wind up with yet!

Darn, sorry to hear that. Hopefully you're doing well on the other one! Did you bid for a GE? Is it a bigger than the first one?

I won the second other auction. Seller had it listed as having some cosmetic damage, but I doubt it's beyond what I can manage. It looks to be a hair bigger than the smaller "boxy" one I've got, but not by much. With any luck it'll be delivered sometime tomorrow, and I'll start dumping piles of pictures and videos here after that.

Awesome! I'm assuming this one needs cosmetic help? I never did ask you whether it's a Rolly or a classic flip clock.

At the end of the day, I hope everything goes well and I wish you the best of luck! Don't stress! ^^

I't "technically" a rollie. A couple of the tiles are double sided, but they're arranged on a wheel so it's really just turning around a bit, whereas a "real" flip clock has significantly more tiles to rotate. It was a cost-saving measure by GE I'm sure.

Clock came in just before the storms knocked out most of Wisconsin, and here it is. The plastic front is cracked pretty badly in the bottom left (though it doesn't look too bad in this photo), as well as a lot of scratches and other little things. The wood grain on it has a lot of marks on it where it's been handled over the years, so it's got an interesting road ahead for it. The light is out, but the mechanism works so nothing too serious overall. I've got the facilities to repair stuff, so I'm happy to take the more beat up stuff at a discount.

Kind of interesting to think that GE is already trying to cut costs as their labor to build these flip clocks are being outsourced to Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Guess making actual flip clocks became too expensive even with the outsourced labor and cheaper parts. GE is just following what everyone else was doing from the Big Three to Radio Shack. Even the All-American Elvis Presley 8 track tapes were made in Mexico! (Pickwick 8 tracks)

                      But I digress.

Looks like your GE got whacked off its nightstand a couple of times (probably by Garfield on a Monday morning )

Good luck on restoring it Rolly, you seem to know exactly what it needs! What's your process for cleaning the clear plastic? Do you start with soap & water and go from there?
