    I read in the comments that the accuracy of the Arduino stepper motor leaves room for improvement, but it certainly looks cool!

      Though, there's nothing inherent in a stepper motor that should cause this. If the number of steps and gearing is known and the motor is stepped based on the real time clock (RTC), it should be extremely accurate. In fact, as long as the motor is not being over stressed and losing steps, which it shouldn't be for a flip clock, it will be as accurate as the RTC. Therefore, if his clock is losing minutes after a few weeks, I believe the issue is with the programming and should be easily correctable.
