Sankyo Digi-Glo 423D cyclometer replacement parts

    Hi,
I picked up a Digi-Glo 423D on ebay and the cyclometer motor was not working. I stripped it down/apart and can see that the main gear on the armature has crumbled to pieces. I am trying to find a replace gear and if not possible a replacement motor.
The diameter of the gear appears to be around 3mm but the teeth are very fine.
I have attach picture and highlighted in red the gear I am trying to replace.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi Mark,

This is a common issue with these motors. I have one where the gear had crumbled into pieces and have serviced a few others where that gear also looked very brittle. I have not yet tried to replace this gear, but I think it might be possible.

Here is how I suggest to approach this:
    1. Count the number of teeth. Hope you can still determine that from your gear. (On the broken motor I still have the gear has disintegrated too far.)
    2. Estimate the module using this site: https://www.technobotsonline.com/gea...alculator.html You may use the small gear to estimate it, but for small gears the estimate will be very inaccurate. You can get a better estimate by using the teeth count and diameter of the adjacent gear (the module of both gears must be the same, otherwise they will not connect).
    3. Order the gear to size from https://shop.kkpmo.com/index.php This site offers every possible gear in very small sizes. I have ordered gears from them to restore Copal motors. Their quality is excellent and their prices are fair.
If want to give this a try, I would be very interested in the result!
