This has to be my favorite from Copal and it is very rare too.... I have tried to buy one several times now, but whenever I find one (not very often), they are too expensive for my taste.
I was after a red one recently in Austria, but he would not ship to another country
I got it on ebay. I've seen red yellow and white. It is my second prefered Copal, the first is the 201.
The problem with 707 restoration is the chrome painted bezel. It is a pain to get it right. I have yet to find a satisfactory way.
I failed this time with a spray can. Will try again with an airbrush.
Fantastic. And thanks for showing this model. It's a rare bird. I hear you on that chrome. I almost feel like I need to send out a clock or two and get it "professionally" done, but I wouldn't know where, and really, it's probably not worth the cost (unless it was going in a flip clock museum). Let us know how it goes with the chroming/painting.

Cool! I just happen to be working on a red 707 right now. I've been polishing the case and need to clean the motor and replace the main bulbs, glue up a hairline crack on the bottom. I have some Molotow Liquid Chrome I think I'll try on the bezel. Although from what I've read, it tends to not wear well so needs some sort of top coat which can dull the chrome look...
The red looks great. Also the chrome looks in a relatively good state. On my clock it was totaly gone.
I think the liquid chrome will be OK for touch ups here and there. Molotow also has liquid chrome pens, 1, 2 and 4 mm, even larger I think.
The problem with airbrushing or spray can, is the need to mask the rest of the surface. Than, the masking needs to be removed while the paint is still wet, else it will peel the paint on the edges. And it gets messy.
Is the light of your bulbs white? On the one I restored it is yelloish.
Dritan The chrome on this one has worn a fair amount from the bottom and top, it does seems more obvious looking straight on. I suppose copal had its own issues with the chrome coming off over time just from handling, I can see people naturally using the chrome lip to help lift the clock. The bulbs seemed standard "NE-2 bulb yellow glow" just very dim. The alarm area is a green one.
Hmm, as far as release date I'd guess early 74 in the US. Just based on a quick newspaper ad search.
I think that Copal Clock Sales Brochure on imgur indicates the 707 was still being marketed in late 1976. If the mark on the brochure is related to the printing date... https://imgur.com/a/ZMlYx (pretty sure this has been posted here before)

I have almost the same leaflet, it's just missing the 707...
The clocks on the last page have always intrigued me, never seen one of them anywhere.
