    GE 7-4305F Restoration

Came across one of these recently, as you can see in the pictures it appeared really, really dirty on the outside. When I bought it, they told me that the radio worked and that the clock could manually turn but that it wouldn't work when plugged it. Bought it for around $5, brought it home, opened it up and applied some lubricant to the engine and voila, it was working again. I also applied some contact cleaning solution to the volume dial/radio tuner as they were a bit skittish. The majority of my time spent on this went towards cleaning it as it was filthy.

Congratulations! Well done. This is the best case scenario. If it needs only a good cleaning, that's the easiest - you don't have to pain yourself with cracked gears or some other problem. It could use some silver marker, though, to restore the labels on the function selector switch. I'll be making a video about that soon.

I look forward to that video, what brand of silver marker do you use?

I use a Centropen 9220 silver lacquer marker (I'm in the Czech Republic). Sharpie should have something of the sort, if you're in the U.S., otherwise just go to the nearest stationery store or a shop where they sell art supplies and ask them for a lacquer or paint marker. I didn't know what exactly I wanted, so I went into a stationery and asked the lady. She showed me a couple of markers and I got the 9220, which was the shiniest, the silverest, the closest match for what I needed.

Here's the video I made today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8MOnSSWMAM Complete with a 1970s adult movie soundtrack.
