Alarm function causing mechanism to stick

    Hi all

I recently bought a 70s Binatone Digimatic 01/5792 which is working for the most part, but it has an odd fault I’ve not seen mentioned elsewhere.

The mechanism has gummed up in a certain spot which holds the mechanism in place. (The motor still spins, and the motor mechanism runs smoothly)

i’ve noticed that if I adjust the alarm time, when the alarm adjuster runs freely, as it should, the main clock mechanism sticks, but when the alarm adjust sticks, the clock runs freely.

I guess it’s just some gummed up grease, but as I’ve never worked on a flip clock this in depth before I wanted to find out other peoples thoughts.

I have seen a couple mentions of people dripping isopropyl alcohol into the mech to clean it out, and then dropping some oil in to relubricate, but this doesn’t sound ideal to me? Maybe it is?

    Any thoughts appreciated

    Cheers!
