Panasonic RC-6253 Clock Setting Auto Alarm Plays Radio

I’m brand new to the forums here and flip clock fandom in general. I recently picked up an RC-6253 from Goodwill in great condition and everything works except setting the alarm. I checked other posts before creating my own and could not find a solution.
When I adjust the “clock setting” to ON it plays the appropriate FM band it is set to. However when I set it to AUTO for the alarm setting it plays the radio (but on a different band than it is set to). When I set it to ALARM it also plays the radio yet again but on a different band from the other two (may actually be switching from FM to AM as well I’m not positive).
Does anyone know what might be going on here?
