Help with repair of Yoshitomo Nara Flip Clock

    Hi Al!
Brand new to this forum so appreciate any help or getting pointed in the right direction to start repairing my Yoshitomo Nara Walk On Flip Clock. It was out of use/in AC’d storage for several years and when I put in a new battery it will not keep time. The minutes will flip, but they are very, very behind. Also, the switch to flip the hours to set them does not seem to be working at all, and the switch to set the minutes is a little temperamental (though it always has been…). It is not making any unusual noises. How should I get started on diagnosing the problem? Thanks so much for your help!

I have never had one of these clocks in my hands or worked on it, but it seems that the 2 issues you mention are related. I would start by carefully trying to open it up to be able to see what happens or does not happen when you try to adjust the time. I guess that there are not many people on this forum that have such a clock or have worked on one. If you can post some pictures of the inside or a video of you trying to adjust it, that would be of great help.

    Good luck!

Hi, I found this forum because I am having the same problem with my two Nara flip clocks. They started falling behind in time, so I switched the battery. And then it was still falling behind in time. So I flipped the minutes forward (the hour flip doesn't really work) and now they are both stuck in time (even though I can hear them both ticking).

I will try to post a video and pics of the inside. I've been wary of opening them up, but I will give it a go.

Interesting, so it is not uncommon for these to break, that's good to know (or not good, depending on how you look at it).

This one is also made by Twemco.I think it is the same as TWEMCO QT-30.
I think the problem might be a part was cracked inside the clock movement. You can disassemble the clock movement and try to glue the cracked part.
Or You can try to have a email to Twemco HK to get their help. E-mail: info@twemco.com

I tried both methods actually. I got their helps about 2 times, and got the clock movements from them with reasonable price + shipping fee.

Them my Twemco clocks are all alive.
