    Westclox film roll clock

I recently picked up a really cool Westclox film roll clock with the detachable radio. My attempts to repair the motor appear to have ended in failure. I believe it to be a General Time M-5. What are my best options for finding a working motor in a clock that does not cost more then the one I"m trying to fix. I know S.T. and Westclox are general time any others? does it have to be a film clock or can it be from a cyclometer. Any help in my search appriciated

Nice clock! My question is where did you fail? Did something break or are you unable to put it back to together? These motors are a bit tricky to work on, but should be very serviceable.

I got it apart and opened ok but it appeared that one of the gears failed and just spinning. I tried the suggestion by Johan de Jong to super glue the gear but this time old eyes and fingers failed much the same way as that gear failed that clock I was just spinning my wheels never really got to the pleasure of trying to put it back together. I am sure that M-5 gear capsule must be a common piece I am just trying to avoid buying the wrong clock numerous times My question now is what clocks would it be most common in. Thanks as always

I'm not overly familiar with US type clocks, so someone else might be better in answering that question...

If you need a motor, let me know. I've got a spare kicking around here, though it is very noisy.

Good luck, and congratulations on the beauty of a clock!

Let me know if this is the type of clock mechanism you have (kinda like a tank tread or conveyor belt of numbers) and the other one you were acquiring doesn't work. I have one and I know of someone else who had at least two of those clock mechanisms that would likely sell them to you at a reasonable price (if he still has them... he was selling all his stuff). PM me if you need it since I don't monitor all the posts here.

Thanks for all the offers. The motor on the junker dialite was working and I transferred it over to the radio model seems to be working well. absolutely no idea how you get into where the lite is I think they put the lite in and built the clock around it. I think I"m just going to work around it and put in led lighting. I still don:t have everything figured out as I had to take a day to buff up my near perfect $49 red and white 227. I was looking for a cheap westclocx when I got a you might also like this ad, I did have to read it twice to make sure before I hit buy it now A couple nice display pieces and nowhere left to display. Will find somewhere for them
