Panasonic RC-6010 Repair and conversion to 220V

Hi everyone!

Here's the story:

My girlfriend gave me a RC-6010 clock as a birthday present but before that she plugged it into the EU 220V outlet. So it became damaged. To solve the problem she tried to repair the unit with someone's help.

As a result everything got even worse and after several months I got the clock with the damaged transformer and without the motor (don't even know where it is)

So I've found the service manual but it is for the B/BA model that are 220 or 110/220V.

Then using spare parts numbers I found new parts and now waiting for the answer from the store if they are available.

So the questions are:

1) Am I correct that the only difference between regular RC-6010 and B/BA are just the transformer and the motor?
If so it will be easily to just install new parts and get working unit that could be used with EU voltage.

2) Does anyone have similar experience to convert this model from 110 to 220?

3) Does anyone have Service Manual for the 110V model so I could compare if other components are the same?

4) Are there any shops I could buy necessary parts if I get the answer they are out of stock from the store I contacted?

Hi,
Too bad about your clock, especially the missing motor.

Typically if you import a US clock with a synchronous motor, like these clock radios have, you also need to account for the frequency difference as well as the voltage.

Many of these models are pushing 45 years old, so sadly there isn't reliable sources for replacement parts like motors any more, most people buy another clock radio to salvage the needed parts.

I read threads you mentioned here.

Here on eBay are the 6010B model for sale (the one I attached service manual for) that have not only voltage selector but also the frequency switch. On the last photo

I did't found the frequency switch on the schematic diagram but according to the list of spare parts the motor is the same for either 6010B (110/220V 60/50Hz) or 6010BA(220/50Hz) revisions.

As the motor receive 10V AC directly from the transformer the only difference should be in transformer parameters (as I don't have the diagram of the US version I cannot to say that with 100% assurance).

But it should be a logical thing that if the same motor works with both 50 and 60Hz in 6010B model it could be installed in the US version as well.
