Copal alarm clock, flap broken off...

I have the flap, but of course, the 'pin' on one side has broken off.....

The clock needs some more work light restoration work, but the flap (in my humble opinion) cannot be repaired, can it? I have no idea what material it is exactly, but in order to repair it, I would need to strengthen it and by doing that, you would make it thicker rendering it useless because it would not be able to move anymore....

Does anybody have a spare top 9 / bottom 10 for this type of Copal clock?

Thank you for your reaction in advance!

i've repaired a number of pins yes it can be done yes its very fiddly .you have to be exact ,,,your best bet is to find tile with a similar tile pin if you can....the other way is to make one yourself it takes a lot of patience ,good magnifying glass on a stand, good set of tweezers...and a veritable speed dremal

That's right. It can be done, but it's not easy and can be less than perfect.

As far as the extra tile, I'll take a look in my stash but that font style does not look familiar to me. I've got at least one Copal junk clock but I think it's more modern that your model.

        Thanks for the replies!

I am aware it is not the most common type of Copal clock... But thanks for looking anyway, I appreciate it!

How would you go about repairing one? You would glue a new piece to the old tile?

Yes, that's the only way to do it that I know of. I have used pieces from other clocks. You can use anything really as long as it is the same thickness. The hard part is getting the size just right. You have to be patient because if you test fit a tile before the glue is set you'll have a terrible mess.

And maybe a jammed wheel. What model of clock is that? I know it's a Copal...
If a flip clock's motor is it's heart, than it's gearbox must be it's soul.

I'm not sure what you're referring to.

The clock in the attached pic from the first post is: Copal Caslon 701

I will have a go a glueing a piece to the 'broken' flap. Have nothing to lose anyway :-)

                Thank you for the advice!
