    I noticed that the clock has not slowed down, so took another look today.

    I could see that the screw behind the 'adjuster' was not turning, and it turns out that what I thought was the adjuster was in fact just a silicone bung to keep dust out

    It wasn't tight on the screw head as I had previously thought...Oh for a user manual!

    So this time I gave the actual adjusting screw a half turn anti-clockwise..
