Another substance for removing faceplate scratches

I saw the helpful video in which Meguiar's 10 Clear Plastic Polish is used to buff out face-plate scratches. I just cleaned up a GE 7-4321 B that had three fairly deep, 1/4"long scratches vertically. I started out with a Fabulustre No. 47.312 , 4 oz. stick, jeweler's rouge to establish a non-indented surface, and then finished with the Meguiar's. I did it all manually (no drill with pad) and it worked well.
