Copal 227 with (probably) broke motor

    Hi! I'm new here.

I found a beautiful yellow copal 227 clock in the trash last week, and as the light turns on when I plugged it in I thought I'd give it a shot at a reparation. I've dissasembled the unit and taken out the motor, quite a hassle as there aren't really screws inside so you had to drill away at som points. Anyhow, when I plug it in it does nothing for a while and then makes a loud noise coming from the motor. I guessed I need a new one but thought I'd ask here first, and also maybe someone here knows where to get a replacement motor?

    Thanks on beforehand,
    Oskar from Gothenburg

    Hi Oskar,

Welcome to this forum! Wow, I have found flipclocks in many places, but never in the trash :-)

With these motors, in general, there can only be two things wrong......

1 - It is stuck because of dust residue which has become stuck in the motor and which prevents it from turning
2 - There is a plastic sprocket which has worn out

If you plug it in and try to turn it manually, does that help?

I might have a replacement motor for you, a photo or model number would help to be 100% sure that I have the right one.
